Anyone who provides work from home to which special regulations apply for the implementation of risk protection must notify the competent authority of the names and workplaces of those they employ to work from home.
Companies that provide home work in accordance with the Home Work Act (HAG), for which special regulations apply for the implementation of hazard protection, must notify the police authority (in Lower Saxony, the municipality/regulatory office) of the names and workplaces of those they employ for home work. This also applies if only irregular or minor activities are planned. The notification must be renewed each time there is a change in the group of people working from home. The same applies if the address of the workplace changes. Special regulations within the meaning of this provision are contained in the Hazardous Substances Ordinance and the Biological Substances Ordinance, among others. Restrictions also exist under the Maternity Protection Act.
If you are working from home for the first time, you must also submit a notification of working from home to the Göttingen Trade Supervisory Office.

- You run a company in Germany that outsources work from home or distributes work from home via others.
- You distribute work from home for which special regulations apply for the implementation of risk protection.
You can send the list to the relevant police authority by post or email:
- You draw up a list in which you state your company name, address, registered office of the company and the type of employment as well as the first and last name of the person working from home and the address details of the place of work.
- You must send the list to the municipality by post or e-mail.
- Once the notification has been received, the authorities will check your notification.
- As a rule, you have fulfilled your obligation to notify and no further action is required on your part. You will not receive any confirmation of receipt
- You will only be contacted if there are any queries or if a rectification needs to be carried out.
The notification must be submitted to the competent authority before the work from home is assigned.
