If you are pregnant, you may only be employed in the last six weeks before giving birth with your consent.
You may not be employed at all until eight weeks or, in the case of premature and multiple births, until twelve weeks after the birth.
Outside the statutory protection periods, the Maternity Protection Act provides for general employment bans (e.g. piecework, assembly line, overtime, Sunday or night work) and individual employment bans based on a medical certificate for your protection and the protection of your child.
