Have you lost your identity card or has it been stolen from you? Then you can have the online ID function blocked.
If the electronic proof of identity (online ID function) has been activated for your identity card, you should arrange for it to be blocked immediately in the event of loss or theft by contacting the Hamburg Service - Office for Residents' Affairs, or by calling the blocking hotline 116 116 around the clock.

- You initiate the blocking personally via the Hamburg Service - Office for Residents' Affairs, or by telephone using the blocking hotline (116 116). The blocking will be initiated immediately.
- At the same time, the police are informed by the Hamburg Service that the ID card has been lost.
- To call the blocking hotline, you need the personal blocking password that you were given in the PIN letter. If you do not have this, you can request the blocking password from the identity card authority where you applied for your ID card. Your personal appearance and proof of identity are required for this.
