Building encumbrances are requirements that you as the owner of a property must comply with. Building encumbrances tell you what you must do, allow or not allow on your property.

The registration of a building burden normally takes place as part of the approval process for your building project. It is usual for the responsible authority to require the registration of a building burden as a condition for the granting of your building permit. The building burden is then entered in the building burden register.
