You can apply in writing to your employer for part-time employment during your parental leave.

You may work during parental leave if your weekly working hours do not exceed an average of 30 hours per month.

Part-time work can be carried out

• with your employer,
• with another employer or
• as a self-employed activity.

Part-time work with another employer or as self-employment requires the consent of your employer. Your employer can only reject your application for urgent operational reasons. The rejection must be received by you in writing within 4 weeks of submitting the application.

• You submit your application to your employer.
• Your employer certifies your application. If you work part-time for another employer or as a self-employed person, you need your employer's consent. Your employer can only reject your application for urgent operational reasons.
