Fahrerlaubnis: Umschreibung von Dienstfahrerlaubnis in zivile Fahrerlaubnis

If you hold a Bundeswehr, Federal Police or police service driving licence, you can have it converted into a general driving licence.

A business driving licence acquired on official duty can be converted into a "civilian", i.e. general driving licence.

With a company driving license from the Bundeswehr, the Federal Police and the police, you may only drive official vehicles. It applies only for the duration of the employment relationship.

Please note: Card driving licences issued from 19 January 2013 onwards are limited to 15 years. However, the time limit only applies to the driving licence document. This must be renewed every 15 years. Regular medical examinations or other examinations are not associated with the exchange of documents.

• Identity card or passport
• Service driving licence (company driving licence) or certificate issued by the issuing authority attesting to the past possession of a company driving licence
• civilian driving licence (if available)
• a passport photo that complies with the provisions of the Passport Ordinance
• (current biometrics-compatible photograph (size 45x35mm, portrait format, frontal shot).

You must be the holder of a valid business driving licence.

The fees are based on the scale of charges for road transport measures (GebOSt).
