If your stay in a place of accommodation exceeds six months, you must register with the relevant registration office.

If you are accommodated in a place of accommodation, you must register with the registration office as soon as your stay exceeds six months.

If you do not have an apartment within Germany, you must register after only three months.

As a guest of an accommodation facility (hotel, boarding house, inn and similar), you must sign a special registration form by hand on the day of arrival.

The number of accompanying family members must be indicated on the registration form. In the case of travel groups of more than 10 persons, the tour guide must sign the special registration form, indicating the number of passengers and their nationality.

The special registration forms must be presented by the accommodation provider to certain authorities for inspection upon request in order to fulfill their duties.

If you are a foreigner, you have to prove your identity with a valid identity document.

In the case of persons under 16 years of age, care must be taken to ensure that they are registered by the persons into whose dwelling they move.

There are no fees to pay.

They must register within two weeks as soon as their stay exceeds six or three months.
