The issuance of permits for the performance of large-volume and/or heavy-volume transport for the carriage of loads with excessive dimensions and/or weight must always be applied for at the competent road traffic authority.
Case-by-case examination. The application is granted if the road infrastructure is suitable for the transport (height, width, weight) and there are no reasons for traffic safety to the contrary.
A fee of between EUR 40.00 and EUR 1300.00 will be charged in accordance with the annex to No. 263.1 of the Fee Regulations for Road Traffic Measures (GebOSt in conjunction with the annex to Fee No. 263.1 GebOSt).
Taking into account the standard processing time, it is advisable to submit the application as early as possible.
The decision (administrative act) on an application may be appealed by means of an objection/complaint.
For large-volume and heavy-load transports, permission must be granted before the journey. The road traffic authorities are responsible. If the area of responsibility of several road traffic authorities is affected, the Thuringian State Administration Office is responsible.
