If you are studying pharmacy at a university and would like to take a section of the pharmaceutical examination (state examination), you must apply for admission. You can find out more here.
The degree course in pharmacy includes a final examination. Proof of passing the examination is a prerequisite for licensure as a pharmacist. Pharmaceutical training comprises
- a four-year degree in pharmacy at a university
- a clinical traineeship of eight weeks
- twelve months of practical training
- the pharmaceutical examination, which must be taken in three examination sections
The examination sections of the pharmaceutical examination are taken
- the first section after studying pharmacy for at least two years
- the second section after passing the first section and having studied pharmacy for at least four years
- the third section after passing the second section and after completing the subsequent practical training
The application for admission to the first section of the pharmaceutical examination must be accompanied by
- the birth certificate, in the case of married persons also the marriage certificate,
- proof of higher education entrance qualification, in the case of certificates obtained outside the scope of this regulation, also the letter of recognition from the competent authority
- proof of clinical traineeship, or in cases of Section 3 (3) AAppO, the corresponding evidence
- proof of having studied pharmacy for two years
- certificates of regular and successful participation in the courses in the subject areas listed in Annex 1 to letters A to D, see AAppO
The application for admission to the second section of the Pharmaceutical Examination must be accompanied by
- the certificate of passing the first section of the Pharmaceutical Examination (Annex 10)
- proof of having studied pharmacy for at least four years
- the certificates of regular and successful participation in the courses in the subject areas listed in Annex 1 to letters E to I in accordance with the model in Annex 2
- the certificate for the compulsory elective subject prescribed in Annex 1 letter K in accordance with the specimen in Annex 3
The application for admission to the third section of the pharmaceutical examination must be accompanied by
- the certificates of passing the first and second sections of the pharmaceutical examination (Annex 10)
- proof of practical training (Annex 5)
- proof of participation in the accompanying courses (Annex 6)
In order to be admitted to the pharmaceutical examination, you must enclose the required supporting documents with your application.
You must register for the pharmaceutical examination in writing. Please use the prescribed forms. Submit your application with the required documents to the relevant office.
