At least 2 months before constructing an aeronautical obstruction that does not require a construction permit, apply for an aeronautical permit from the appropriate aviation authority.

If you erect installations, trees or equipment or create ground depressions, the safety of air traffic may be at risk. Therefore, under certain conditions, you require approval from the responsible aviation authority. In the case of structures that require a permit or are exempt from approval, this permit is issued as part of the building permit. For ground depressions, structural installations or the erection of equipment or trees for which you do not require a building permit, you submit the application directly to the responsible aviation authority.

The height limits for the permit requirement result from the distance of the object to airfields (also helipads or airports) as well as the height of the object in meters above ground and in meters above sea level. In the construction protection area of airfields (1.5 km radius around the airfield reference point), all installations, excavations, trees and equipment are subject to approval. In the construction protection area of large airports (15 km radius in the approach sectors or 6 km radius otherwise), the height limits for the permit requirement depend on the height of the obstacle and the terrain elevation. Very high obstacles or obstacles on ground elevations outside the construction protection area may also be subject to approval. Information on the permit requirement for your project can be obtained from the responsible aviation authority.

Submit the application at least 2 months before the start of the project. Specify the type of aeronautical obstruction, the location (indicate the location coordinates in degrees, minutes and seconds in WGS84) and the height in meters above ground and in meters above sea level of the top of the aeronautical obstruction, as well as the date of construction and, in the case of temporary obstructions, the duration until which the obstruction will be in place.

After receipt of the complete documents, the responsible aviation authority will check within 2 months whether the permit can be issued. Within 2 months you will receive the requested permit or, if applicable, a notice of rejection of your application. If the competent aviation authority does not reject the permit within this period or does not extend this period, the permit is likewise deemed to have been granted.
