If you are planning structural modernization measures to renovate a residential building to an Efficiency House 85, you can receive a grant from the state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern under certain conditions.
What is subsidized?
Funding is available for structural modernization measures that
- are older than 10 years
- For residential buildings completed at a later date, funding is available for structural measures that:
- serve to save heating energy,
- lead to CO2/SO2 reduction or
- are necessary to adapt housing for disabled or elderly people.
- For residential buildings completed at a later date, funding is available for structural measures that:
- sustainably increase the utility value of apartments and residential buildings,
- improve general living conditions in the long term,
- achieve sustainable savings in energy and water,
- reduce carbon dioxide emissions,
- serve to reduce mobility barriers by adapting living space,
- serve to retrofit passenger elevators, elevators or other mechanical vertical passenger transportation systems,
- serve to install smart home components and burglar-resistant security technology,
- for the installation of building-integrated charging and cable infrastructure for electromobility.
Who is eligible for funding?
You can apply for funding if you
- are the owner of a property that is built with rental or cooperative apartments,
- are the owner of a property that is developed with owner-occupied residential property,
- are entitled to hereditary building rights.
How is funding provided?
- up to 60 percent of eligible expenditure of up to EUR 1,600 per m² of living space
- is limited to a maximum amount of EUR 96,000 per apartment
- Expenditure for repair measures that are necessary for modernization are eligible expenditure.
- A grant cannot be awarded if the amount of the grant is less than EUR 20,000.
- Barrier-free modernization:
- 60 percent of the eligible expenditure for barrier-free apartments that can be used without restriction by wheelchair in accordance with DIN 18040-2:2011-09

- Earmarking/occupancy restriction:

- 1st installment: 50 percent when half of the construction project has been completed

- for partial commercial use:
- Floor plans with details of the size of the commercial space
- for extensive construction measures:
- Floor plan, sections or views of the current building and of the plans
- Living space calculations
- Current declaration of de minimis aid and SGEI de minimis aid already received
- for rental and cooperative apartments:
- Confirmation from the local authority according to the form
- Overall energy concept from an approved energy expert to achieve the energy standards of efficiency house level 85 (KfW program 261)
- You must be the owner of land developed with rented or cooperative apartments or owner-occupied residential property or have heritable building rights.
- You have not yet started the modernization measures.
- Your home must be used primarily as living space.
- Your planned modernization measure meets one of the following requirements:
- Refurbishment or modernization of a residential building to an efficiency house with at least efficiency house standard 85.
- The grant applied for must amount to at least EUR 20,000.
- The grant is limited to a maximum of EUR 96,000 per dwelling.
- You submit the completed application in duplicate with all the required documents to the responsible licensing authority.
- The granting authority will review your application.
- If your application is approved, you will receive a grant notification from the granting authority.
As a rule, you must not have started the modernization work before submitting your application. However, you can submit an application for an early start of construction to the approval authority.
If you make use of the grant, you enter into certain obligations (for example: earmarking, occupancy commitment, rent control).
If you provide false information in the application, this may have criminal consequences.
The granting authority is entitled to check compliance with the obligations.
You have no legal entitlement to a grant.
