§ 27 FeV

Anyone who has a service driver's license can have it rewritten.

If you have a service driver's license from the German Armed Forces, the Federal Police or the police, you can have this converted into a "civilian", i.e. general driving license (EU driving license).

• Official photo ID (identity card, passport),
• Certificate of registration, if applicable,
• official driver's license (official driver's license) or certificate from the issuing authority confirming previous possession of an official driver's license,
• current photograph: frontal photograph according to international standards (biometric photograph),
• civilian driver's license (if available).

If the transfer of the service driver's license is applied for after termination of the employment relationship, the following documents may also be required, depending on the individual case - for categories C, C1, CE, C1E, D, D1, DE, D1E:

• Certificate from an ophthalmologist,
• Expert opinion on physical and mental aptitude,
• Proof of compliance with the special requirements according to Annex 5 No. 2 of the Driving License Ordinance (FeV).

The fees are set by the relevant authority in accordance with the German Road Traffic Fee Regulations (GebOSt).
