Examination of expertise as a financial investment broker in accordance with Section 1 of the Ordinance on Financial Investment Brokerage (FinVermV)
In order to be authorised to work as a financial investment broker, you must successfully complete the IHK (Chamber of Industry and Commerce) examination.
The examination consists of a practical and a written part and is divided into three sections depending on the product category:
- open financial investments
- closed-end financial investments
- investments
Note: The examination of expertise for financial investment brokers corresponds in content to the examination of expertise for fee-based financial investment advisors. If you have completed vocational training or have a degree in banking and finance, this may be recognised instead of the examination.
Tip: In order to be successful, you should prepare intensively for the content of the examination.
Registration for the examination takes place at the local IHK:
- the IHK will inform you in good time about the time and place and details of the examination procedure
written examination
- the written examination takes place first and comprises
- legal and technical knowledge, for example consumer rights and technical terms
practical examination
- after successfully passing the written exam, the practical exam follows, which includes
- a simulated customer counselling interview
Once you have passed both parts of the examination, you will receive a certificate of competence.
They usually receive the certificate within a few days of successfully passing the examination.
Please note the registration deadlines of your local IHK.
Proven expertise is valid indefinitely.
