Rent index according to § 558 c and § 558 d German Civil Code (BGB)
Rent indices are used, for example, to justify a landlord's request for a rent increase.
A simple rent index is an overview of the local comparative rent, insofar as the overview has been prepared or recognised jointly by the municipality or by interest groups of landlords and tenants.
A qualified representative list of rents, on the other hand, is a representative list of rents that has been drawn up according to recognised scientific principles and has been recognised by the municipality or by bodies representing the interests of tenants and landlords.
Updating the representative list of rents
- Simple representative lists of rents are usually updated every two years.
- Qualified representative lists of rents are to be adjusted to market developments after two years and newly drawn up after four years.
- printed brochures: usually a nominal charge of up to EUR 5.00
- for mailing: postage costs
Tip: Often the brochures are offered as a free download on the websites of the respective city or municipal administration.
Depending on what the competent office has to offer, you can
