If you, as a company, want to carry out transport on public roads, whose dimensions, axle loads or total weight exceed the limits generally permitted under the Road Traffic Regulations (StVO), you need a permit and/or an exemption from the road traffic authorities.

Note:

You must plan particularly carefully for large and heavy load transports. It is recommended to discuss the details with the responsible road traffic authority at an early stage.

• exception permit according to § 70 StVZO

The authority will contact you if further documents are required to process the application.

In order to obtain a permit and/or exemption for the planned transport, it must meet the following requirements:

• Transport by rail and/or water is out of the question.
• Suitable roads are available. Road safety and the protection of infrastructure (roads, bridges, tunnels) are paramount.

• EUR 40.00 to EUR 1,300.00 (depending on expenses)

In Saxony, you can use the online procedure "Procedural Management for Large and Heavy Goods Transport (VEMAGS)" to apply for a permit and/or exemption (under "Forms & Online Services" - by selecting a location).
