Persons who are established or practise their profession in another state and move to North Rhine-Westphalia to provide temporary and occasional services may use the professional title "architect", "interior architect", "landscape architect" or "urban planner" without being entered in the list of architects or the respective list if certain requirements are met.
They must notify the Chamber of Architects of North Rhine-Westphalia of their first activity if they are not registered in a list of architects and town planners in Germany and have not already received a certificate from another Chamber of Architects in the Federal Republic of Germany.
The Chamber of Architects lists them in the directory of external service providers.
- Proof of your nationality;
- A certificate stating that you are legally exercising the relevant activities in your country of residence or establishment and that you are not prohibited, even temporarily, from exercising these activities at the time the certificate is submitted,
- Proof of professional qualification,
- Proof that you have practiced the relevant activity for at least one year during the previous ten years, unless the profession is regulated.
External service providers must notify the Chamber of Architects of their first activity.
Foreign service providers may use the professional title "architect", "interior architect", "landscape architect", "landscape architect" or "urban planner" without being entered in the list of architects or the list of urban planners if they meet the registration requirements for the professional titles in accordance with the Building Chamber Act and a German Chamber of Architects has confirmed this to them. The individual requirements can be found in §§ 18, 19 of the NRW Building Chamber Act.
The application is submitted to the Registration Committee of the Chamber of Architects of North Rhine-Westphalia for a decision. The registration committee is an independent body that is not bound by instructions and reviews whether the requirements for registration are met.
