Addiction prevention aims to prevent the health, social and financial damage associated with the use of legal and illegal substances and the consequences of addictive behavior. The services are aimed at children, adolescents, young adults and adults in various settings.

As part of addiction prevention, various support options are available to those affected and their families. This includes measures such as counseling sessions, early prevention and information material, which can be found on the Internet.

There are services for all types and forms of addiction.

Online platforms, telephone and on-site consultations provide you with the appropriate and free support you need. Your individual situation can be addressed in personal discussions. Help is offered in finding suitable advice centers nearby or anonymous advice services. The consultations are subject to confidentiality.

Different processes are possible. One possible sequence is

1. Inform online

• A first step can be to gather information online. For example, visit the social platform for practical information, early recognition of signs of addiction and support options or the online platform DigiSucht.

2. contact the advice center:

• You, as a potentially addicted person or family member, contact the counseling center in person via telephone, email or chat. An appointment is made or the counseling is facilitated online.

3. initial consultation and needs assessment:

• In an initial meeting, the individual needs and the type of support required in the area of addiction prevention are discussed.

4. counseling and education:

• The counseling center provides information about addiction, prevention measures and appropriate steps to overcome the problem. This can take place online, in the form of flyers or information brochures, as well as in person.

5. individual prevention plan:

• In some cases, based on the initial consultation and needs assessment, a customized prevention plan will be developed that is tailored to your specific needs and goals.

6. ongoing support and guidance:

• The counseling center provides ongoing support, counseling sessions to ensure that the preventive measures are implemented effectively and that the person concerned does not become addicted.
