Using so-called phishing emails, internet fraudsters try to "fish out" passwords, account numbers, telephone numbers and other personal data from internet users under the guise of well-known companies and institutions. Reputable service providers never ask for confidential customer data by e-mail, telephone or text message. If you receive an e-mail asking you to enter secret personal data, you should neither reply to it nor open any attachments or links contained in it.
Warning in the "phishing radar"
To protect against "data fishers", the Federal Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Consumer Protection and the North Rhine-Westphalia Consumer Advice Center set up a "Phishing Radar" on the Internet. Since the end of the Consumer Financial Knowledge project on December 31, 2012, the North Rhine-Westphalia Consumer Advice Center has continued to operate the Phishing Radar. The alert provides information about current threats.
In a connected forum, you have the opportunity to find out about the phishing e-mails currently in circulation from the individual providers. You can forward phishing e-mails directly to phishing@vz-nrw.de for evaluation by the consumer protection agency.
If possible, also inform the companies and institutions under whose name the "data fishers" are operating. This will help the companies and institutions to take action against the fraudsters.
Forward phishing mail
Forward the e-mail to the North Rhine-Westphalia Consumer Advice Center at the following address
- E-mail: phishing@vz-nrw.de
The moderators of the forum will evaluate the message and post a warning message in the "Phishing Radar".
