If you are a doctor and would like to apply for authorization to examine persons exposed to radiation, you can obtain this authorization from the competent authority under certain conditions.
As an authorized physician, you have the task of carrying out medical examinations in accordance with the Radiation Protection Ordinance as well as special medical supervision. You keep a health record for each person who is subject to your medical supervision.
- Application for authorization

Depending on further medical training, proof of
- the expertise,
- a basic course in radiation protection
- and the special course in accordance with the Radiation Protection Ordinance (Part 1 and/or Part 2).
You can prove that you
- have training or relevant practical experience,
- have a certificate of competence,
- have completed a basic course in radiation protection
- and have completed the special course in accordance with the Radiation Protection Ordinance (Part 1 and/or Part 2).
You submit the application with the required documents, unless these documents are already available to the competent authority. The authority will review the application and decide whether to grant the authorization. If the application is approved, the authorization will be sent and the administrative fees will be charged.
The processing time depends on the scope of the review and the completeness of the application.
You can only apply to the competent authority if you are listed there as a doctor working in Schleswig-Holstein. If you are professionally active in other federal states, please contact the competent authority there.

- Doctors apply for authorization in accordance with the Radiation Protection Ordinance (StrlSchV).
- Doctors must provide proof of appropriate qualifications (further training, courses, expertise).
- The authorization is limited to five years.
