If your address changes, you must have the new address entered on your identity card/electronic residence permit.
If you move house, you must have the address on your ID card/electronic residence permit updated. In the case of an identity card or electronic residence permit, the change of address/residence is indicated by a sticker and the address is also changed on the ID chip.
Even if you move abroad, no longer have an address in Germany and your address abroad has not yet been determined, your ID card/electronic residence permit must be changed. The address sticker will then state that you no longer have an address in Germany.
- Valid identity card/electronic residence permit
- Current registration confirmation
- Your identity card/electronic residence permit is valid.
- You have already registered your new address with your local registration office.
- You do not need an appointment for the change.
- You present your identity document (identity card/electronic residence permit) and your confirmation of registration at the information desk during opening hours.
- The address in the chip of your ID card/electronic residence permit will be changed and an address sticker with your new address will be affixed to your ID card/electronic residence permit.
- If you deregister abroad, the address in the ID card and in the electronic storage and processing medium will be replaced by the note "no residence in Germany" or with the new address abroad if the relevant evidence has been provided.
