Children and young people in curative full-time care have special needs due to their impaired physical and/or mental development. These needs require close and intensive consultation with those involved in the care relationship.

Continuous and close support is important for the protection of foster children, the stability of a foster relationship and the satisfaction of foster carers and foster families in order to build up a stable relationship of trust.

In curative full-time care, the special needs of children and young people with physical and/or mental disabilities require close and intensive counseling of foster families.

Foster carers should contact their local youth welfare office or foster care service.

There they will receive specific advice and support before taking in the child or young person and for the duration of the fostering relationship. This also applies in cases where the child or young person is neither receiving educational support nor integration assistance.

It also applies to cases in which the foster carer does not require a permit for full-time care in accordance with Section 44.
