Would you like to enroll your child in a daycare center? All you need is your child's child identification number.
You will need your child's child identification number (KID) to register your child at a daycare center. The KID will be sent to you automatically by post after the birth of your child.
The daycare year begins every year on August 1st.
Applications for admission are made directly at the desired daycare center or online using the registration form.
Applications for admission for the new daycare year (August 1) are usually submitted during the registration period from January 15 to January 30 of each year. Applications for after-school care are usually submitted from March 1 to 15 of each year.
A child who is 1 year old or older is entitled to early childhood support in a daycare facility or in a daycare center until their 3rd birthday.
If both parents are unable to look after their child themselves, children under the age of 1 may already be entitled to early childhood support. This is the case, for example, if both parents are working.
From the 3rd birthday until the child starts school, the child is entitled to support in a day care center.
Application forms are available from the daycare centers or at www.bremerhaven.de.
The application forms are handed in at the desired daycare center.
Registration is also possible online on the website.
You will need a child identification number (KID) when registering. Please submit all proof of employment or (higher) education of the legal guardians.
Places are allocated in accordance with statutory criteria. You will be informed in writing whether your child can be admitted to the daycare center.
Confirm the childcare place at the daycare center within 2 weeks of receiving the written confirmation. Otherwise the childcare place will be allocated elsewhere.
The registration process is completed after the admission interview at the respective daycare center.
If your preferred facility does not participate in the online registration via the Kitaportal Bremen, please contact the relevant provider or facility in person and enquire about the individual procedures for registration and allocation of a childcare place.
If your child is already registered, he or she can generally keep the place in his or her daycare center in the following kindergarten years. However, if you require an extended period of childcare, you must register for this each year and provide evidence of your requirements annually.
The kindergarten year always begins on August 1st and ends on July 31st of the following year. Children can also enter and leave the daycare center during the course of the kindergarten year.
Early childhood education in kindergarten enables children to play together with other children and offers them a variety of learning opportunities. Parents receive tips on the development of their children and can exchange ideas with other parents. The quality of the services is monitored by the Bremen State Youth Welfare Office (operating license for daycare facilities). There are regular training courses for the specialists.
The quality standards for early childhood education applicable to kindergartens in Bremen and Bremerhaven are described in the framework plan for education and upbringing in the elementary sector.
