Are you under 18 or do you have children under 18? Then we have something for you!

The FreiKarte 2.0 for 2024 and 2025 will be sent automatically to all children and young people under the age of 18 in Bremen and Bremerhaven. This will happen in good time before the 2024 summer vacations.

The restrictions were particularly tough for children and young people during the pandemic: no parties, no birthday parties, hardly any sport, far too few contacts. Now things are finally getting back to normal! In order to pay for the pent-up demand, the FreiKarte is available for everyone up to the age of 18: topped up by the state with €60 for 2022 and a further €60 for 2023. You can use the credit for admission to the cinema, swimming pool, theater, museum... and many other places.

With the FreiKarte, children and young people with their primary residence in the state of Bremen can pay for admission to participating leisure facilities - such as cinemas, swimming pools, theaters, museums and more - and, if necessary, also for food/drinks or required equipment. The costs for accompanying persons can also be settled via the card, but only in connection with purchases for the person to whom the card belongs.

To get started, the FreiKarte must be activated once. This can be done via the website or by calling the citizens' hotline on 115.

FreiKarte - Simple. Experience Bremen.

Only those who

• are under 18 years of age and
• have their primary residence in Bremen or Bremerhaven.

Every month, newborns and children and young people who have moved into the area automatically receive a FreiKarte by post based on the data provided by the registration authorities. 3 to 5 working days later, they also receive the activation code by post.

If you are unable to activate the FreiKarte yourself, the FamilienCard project office will help you activate it. All you have to do is call the FamilienCard project office and give them the card number and activation code. You can reach the project office via the citizens' hotline on +49 421 115

Credit balance

The credit from 2022 no longer has an expiration date. It can also be used until the end of 2023. Unused credit from 2022 remains on the free card.

The new credit for 2023 will be automatically loaded onto the FreeCard on 01.01.2023.

The FreeCard automatically loses its validity on 01.01.2024. The credit can be used until 31.12.2023, even if the person has turned 18 during this period.

The FreeCard cannot be topped up with your own credit.

Relocation

If you have moved house and it will be some time before your re-registration appointment at the Citizens' Service Center, the FamilyCard project office can send a new FreiKarte to your new address and block the old card. To do this, you must send a confirmation from your landlord and the full details of the child/children (old and new address, date of birth) to the FamilienCard project office. If you have moved to Bremen and are waiting for your registration appointment at the Citizens' Service Center, the procedure is similar. In this case, the Familiencard project office requires confirmation from your landlord and the full details of the child/children (new address, date of birth). You can send the documents and information to the FamilienCard project office by e-mail or in writing by post.

Loss of the card

Please use the contact form to report any loss to the project office, where a replacement card will be ordered if necessary.
