You want to pick up your identity card / passport / eID card?

The ID document must be picked up at the BürgerServiceCenter where it was requested.

You can check the processing status of your ID card or passport or your eID card using the serial number indicated on your pick-up slip at , see linked online service.

Otherwise, ID cards and eID cards can be picked up one week after you receive the PIN letter from Bundesdruckerei. Please note that this PIN letter will not be sent for children who are younger than 15 years and 9 months at the time of applying for the ID card.

• For the collection of an identity card or passport:

  - old identity card/passport/child's passport, which is validated before the new document is issued

• For the collection of an eID card:

  - a valid passport or identity card or an identity card of an EU state or another state of the European Economic Area

• The requested identification document must be ready for collection.
• If you instruct another person to collect the document, please remember to give this person the old ID document and to issue a special power of attorney for the collection. You can find the power of attorney here under "Forms".
• The authorized person must also be able to identify himself/herself.
• A power of attorney cannot be issued to a third party if it has been agreed that the PIN letter will be sent to the ID card authority or if the person applying for the ID card has not received a PIN letter. In these cases, the personal appearance of the applicant person at the identity card authority is required.
• In the case of children under 16 years of age, one legal representative may collect the identity card alone, without the power of attorney of the other. The same applies when collecting a passport for children under 18.
• Children over the age of 16 can and must always pick up their ID card or eID card themselves. They can only be handed over to another person, including a legal representative, with the special collection authorization (see under "Forms").
• In the case of children under the age of 16, if the child collects an ID card on its own, a legal representative must also issue the child with a special collection authorization. The same applies when collecting a passport for children under 18.

If you should move in the future, it is necessary to change the address on the identity card or the place of residence in the passport.
