If your asylum application has been positively decided by the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (BAMF), you will receive a written decision from the BAMF. The Migration Office will also receive this decision. You will then receive an invitation from the Migration Office to obtain a residence permit within 2 weeks at the latest. Please do not contact us if you have not yet received the invitation from us, as we will then not be able to process your request.
If the BAMF has decided positively on your asylum application, the BAMF will state in the decision that you receive by post that you either:
- have been recognised as being entitled to asylum or
- have been recognised as a refugee in accordance with the Geneva Refugee Convention, or
- have been recognised as being entitled to subsidiary protection or
- there are obstacles to deportation.
If you still have questions or objections to the BAMF's decision, you must contact the BAMF directly. The contact details for this can be found on the decision you received from the BAMF, as well as the appeal instructions explaining how you can appeal against the decision if you do not agree with it (see under "i Where can I find out more?").
Based on the positive decision of the BAMF, you will receive a residence permit from the Migration Office.
For the issuance of the residence permit, you will automatically receive an invitation by mail from the Migration Office for a specific appointment. Please do not come to the Migration Office without an appointment, as we cannot process your request without an appointment.
You will find the details for the appointment under "Procedure".
If the BAMF has decided positively on your asylum application, the Migration Office will also automatically receive this decision. As soon as we have received this decision, we will send you an invitation by mail for an appointment for the issuance of the residence permit. Please do not come to the Migration Office without an appointment, as we cannot process your request without an appointment. If you have not received an invitation from us 2 weeks after receiving the mail from the BAMF, please send us an e-mail so that we can check the facts:
mailto:ref30@migrationsamt.bremen.de.
The invitation will also tell you what you need to bring with you to the appointment. Please attend this appointment and bring the requested documents with you, otherwise we will not be able to issue the residence permit.
If you are unable to come to the appointment, please send us an e-mail requesting another appointment.
If you have questions about the rights arising from the residence permit and do not have sufficient knowledge of German yourself, please bring an interpreter with you to the appointment.
