After completion of the construction work, the building must be surveyed in order to verify the building in the real estate cadastre. According to the Surveying and Cadastral Act, the newly constructed building or the building whose ground plan has been changed must be surveyed after its completion in order to keep the real estate map up-to-date and complete. The proof in this public register is an essential basis for further planning and construction measures as well as for lending purposes.
The Surveying and Cadastre Act provides that the building survey can be carried out ex officio at the expense of the building owners if no application for the building survey has been filed within six months of the start of construction. The costs for the building survey are determined on the basis of the construction costs according to the Cost Ordinance for Official Surveying and the Expert Committees according to the Building Code.
The Surveying and Cadastral Office surveys the building, draws up the surveying regulations and transfers them to the real estate cadastre. The building is then entered on the real estate map and the owner receives a map extract.
