Programm zur Förderung anwendungsnaher Umwelttechniken (PFAU)

If you as a company or scientific institution are testing environmentally friendly products, processes or services together with a project partner, you can apply for funding from the Senator for Climate Protection, Environment, Mobility, Urban Development and Housing.

In accordance with these guidelines, funding is granted to companies and institutions for research and the dissemination of knowledge with their registered office or place of business in the state of Bremen for:

1. research and development projects

2. process and organizational innovations

3. feasibility studies

4. innovation clusters

5. innovation consulting services and innovation support services

The Program for the Promotion of Applied Environmental Technologies (PFAU) supports individual and joint projects by industry and science for the development, construction and testing of innovative products, processes and services with positive effects for the environment. The funding is intended to reduce the high technical and economic risk associated with such development projects and to strengthen the competitiveness of the applicant company.

1. research and development projects

Non-repayable grant of 25 - 100 % (100 % only for scientific institutions) of the eligible costs, up to a maximum of € 100,000 for pilot projects and € 200,000 for collaborative projects.

Low-interest loans (max. € 500,000) can cover up to 100 % of the eligible costs of an R&D project.

2. process and organizational innovations

Soft loans (max. €500,000) can cover up to 100% of the eligible costs for a project.

3. feasibility studies

Non-repayable grant (max. €50,000) of up to 50% of eligible costs.

4. innovation clusters

Investment aid and operating aid (max. €200,000 per year) will be provided in the form of non-repayable grants of up to 50% of eligible costs.

5. innovation consulting services and innovation support services.

Eligible applicants are:

- Companies in the commercial sector

- Providers of services who have their registered office or a place of business in the state of Bremen

- especially SMEs

- Research institutions of the state of Bremen, within the framework of joint projects

are eligible for funding:

- Personnel costs

- Material costs ( Costs for external R&D services, material costs (in individual cases over €500), costs for manufacturing and service contracts with third parties, and depreciation for investments).

Applications for grants must be submitted to the business development agencies prior to the start of the project on the appropriate forms with the information required therein. The business development agencies will provide information on the required documents and the procedure and will make the relevant forms available on request. The application for funding must be submitted before the start of the project.
