If your allotment generates wastewater and the property is not connected to a sewer, you must install a wastewater tank and notify the authority in writing.

In an allotment garden or on a plot of land in a weekend or vacation home area where water is drawn from the public water supply, the person entitled to use the land is obliged to dispose of the wastewater. Since the plots of land are usually not subject to the sewer connection obligation, the wastewater must be collected in a wastewater collection tank and collected by a certified waste disposal company. Regular emptying must be arranged in good time.

Only sealed monolithic containers are approved as wastewater collection containers. The container must be sized to hold one month's wastewater. The minimum size per property is one and a half cubic meters.

The obligation to notify exists for

• owners and/or users of allotment gardens
• owners and/or users of land used as a weekend or vacation home,

if wastewater is produced in large quantities, but the property is not connected to a sewer.

The construction, modification or removal of the wastewater collection tanks must be notified to the water authority in writing using the notification form at least one month before the start of the measure. In case of construction or modification of the wastewater collection tanks, a type description of the wastewater collection tank with approval number of the German Institute for Construction Technology as well as a site plan or a sketch of the property with pit location and pipe routing must be attached to the notification.

Proof of proper disposal of wastewater must be maintained for three years and presented to the authority upon request.
