You are not allowed to perform certain security-related activities until you have undergone a background check. These include certain activities at the airport, working with air freight or driving an aircraft as a pilot.

The Hamburg Authority for Economics and Innovation is centrally responsible for background checks in accordance with Section 7 of the Aviation Security Act.

If you submit an application for a background check, the check will be carried out. If the check is completed successfully and no doubts remain about your reliability, you will receive a clearance certificate.

With this certificate, you may perform security-related activities at the airport, work with air cargo or operate an aircraft as a pilot.
