If you would like to participate in a European Voluntary Service under EU Directive 2016/801, you can apply for a temporary residence permit.
As a participant in the European Voluntary Service, you will be granted a residence permit for the duration of your voluntary service, but for a maximum of one year.
The agreement concluded between you and the host institution must contain the essential information (job description, duration, working hours, working conditions, supervision, remuneration and, where applicable, training measures).
If you are under 18 years of age, you also need the consent of your legal guardian.
In addition to participating in the voluntary service, it is not permitted to undertake additional employment.

- Recognized and valid identity document (for example: passport or passport substitute)

- Current biometric passport photo (45 x 35 mm)

- There is no legally regulated reason for refusal (for example: you should not be one of the persons who enjoy international protection in Germany, who have applied for international protection, whose deportation is temporarily suspended or who have been granted temporary protection; also, the institution receiving you should not have been founded solely for the purpose of facilitating the entry and residence of foreigners).
- You have adequate health insurance coverage.
- There is no interest in deporting you.
- Your stay does not endanger or impair the interests of the Federal Republic of Germany.
- Find out whether your immigration authority allows you to submit your application online or whether it has a special application form.
- If the application can only be submitted in person, make an appointment at the immigration office. If you apply online, the immigration office will contact you after receiving your application to make an appointment.
- During the appointment, your identity and documents will be checked (please bring your documents, preferably in the original, with you to the appointment).
- If your application is approved, your fingerprints will be taken to produce an electronic residence permit (eAT card). The immigration authorities will commission the Federal Printing Office to produce the eAT card. Once the process is complete, you will receive information and can collect the residence permit from the responsible office. The eAT card must always be collected in person.
- If your application is rejected, you will receive a rejection notice.
