If you have a residence permit for a period of less than six months to carry out a study-related internship in the EU and would like to continue the internship, you can apply for an extension of your residence permit.
If you have a residence permit for a period of less than six months to carry out a study-related internship in the EU and would like to extend your internship, you must apply for an extension of your residence permit in good time before it expires.
To extend the residence permit, the same requirements must be met and the same documents must be submitted as when the residence permit was first issued. One requirement is that the maximum period of validity of the residence permit of six months has not yet been exhausted.

- Evidence of securing a livelihood without relying on public benefits (for example: equity, scholarship, declaration of commitment, payment of security into a blocked account at a bank, bank guarantee, proof of parents' income or similar)
- Proof of health insurance coverage (for example: confirmation of health insurance coverage or insurance policy).

- The internship will continue to correspond in subject and level to your university degree or current studies.
- You can secure your livelihood and health insurance coverage without relying on public benefits.
- There is no interest in deporting you.

- The immigration authorities commission the Federal Printing Office to produce the eAT card. Once the card is ready, you will receive information and can collect the eAT card from the responsible office. The eAT card must always be collected in person.
- If your application is rejected, you will receive a rejection notice.
