The Hansa-Kolleg course leads working people to a general university entrance qualification in a three or four-year course. Classes take place full-time in the mornings at the Second Chance Education Campus. The course corresponds in scope and type to attending the upper secondary level at a grammar school for younger students.
The three-year course is divided into the preliminary stage (one year) and the study stage (two years). The number of lessons in the study stage is at least 34 lessons per week (part-time school education parallel to employment). The four-year course is preceded by a preparatory year.
Subjects taught are German, English, mathematics and, as part of the school's offering, a subject from the social sciences and a natural science of the student's choice. In addition, other subjects are chosen according to the school's offering. If necessary, the students must take a second foreign language. In addition, the students may be required to take remedial classes in the subjects German, mathematics and a foreign language in accordance with APO-Ca2B § 6 Paragraph 4. Profile areas are taken at the study level.

- Completed application documents.
- A cover letter in which you also state the reasons for your attendance at school.
- A current CV with your signature.
- 3-year course of study: Certificate of secondary school leaving certificate / intermediate school leaving certificate MSA.
- 4-year course of study: Certificate of secondary school leaving certificate / first educational qualification ESA
- Proof of completed vocational training or at least 2 years of professional experience or of managing a household with a person responsible for raising children.
- A photograph, which can also be scanned into your CV, for example.
- A copy of your identity card / document of identity.
Anyone who is eligible to take part in a course of study at the Campus Second Chance Education
1. is of legal age,
2. has his residence or, failing that, his habitual abode in the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg,
3. has not attended a general education school or a full-time vocational school, with the exception of fully qualifying vocational schools, for at least the two years preceding admission to the Second Chance Education Campus,
4. does not already have the desired qualification or an equivalent qualification,
5. has taken part in the initial consultation at the Second Chance Education Campus,
6. has sufficient knowledge of German to successfully participate in the respective educational program.
For admission to the Hansa-Kolleg course, the following also applies:
1. is of legal age,

3. has not attended a general education school or a full-time vocational school, with the exception of fully qualifying vocational schools, for at least the two years preceding admission to the Second Chance Education Campus,

For admission to the Hansa-Kolleg course, the following also applies:
- has fulfilled the admission requirements for admission to the Second Chance Education Campus and has completed vocational training in a recognised training occupation, in the public service or at a vocational school or has been employed for at least two years and
- is employed and
- has obtained the first general education qualification (four-year training) or
- has obtained an intermediate school leaving certificate (three-year training).

The decision on admission is an administrative act. You can appeal against a decision to the sending office within the deadline specified in the letter. An unsuccessful appeal will incur a fee.
