Accompanying assistance is intended to support severely disabled people in their working lives.
Accompanying assistance in working life makes it easier for severely disabled people to participate in working life. This support is provided in close cooperation with the Federal Employment Agency and other rehabilitation providers. Its aim is to ensure that severely disabled people are employed on an equal basis in jobs where they can contribute and further develop their skills and knowledge.
Accompanying assistance supports severely disabled employees, self-employed persons and civil servants:
- for technical work aids
- to reach the workplace
- to establish and maintain an independent professional existence
- for the procurement, equipment and maintenance of a disability-friendly apartment
- to participate in measures to maintain and expand professional knowledge and skills
- in special life situations
- Covering the costs of necessary work assistance
- Employment contract, certificate of appointment or proof of self-employment
- Notice of determination from the social security office regarding the recognised disability
- Severely disabled person's card or certificate of equal treatment
- if necessary, cost estimates
- if necessary, certificate of viability in the case of self-employment
Jobs are defined as positions in which employees work on a fixed-term or part-time basis for at least 15 hours.
The application for benefits for participation in working life according to the Social Code, Volume Nine, is made as follows:
- You describe the issue.
- You send the data along with the required documents to the responsible authority.
- The Integration Office examines the application.
- The local integration office will contact the applicant for advice or further information.
- If there are any further concerns, other parties involved, such as the psychosocial specialist service or the technical advisory service, may contact the applicant.
- To clarify the exact scope of services, the other parties involved may carry out an inspection.
- The Integration Office sends the decision to the applicant by post after the needs assessment has been completed.
Duration: 1 to 3 months
There are no deadlines to be met. The application must be submitted in good time (if possible three months) before the planned measure is carried out.
After receiving the decision, you have the opportunity to lodge an objection within four weeks.
Accompanying assistance facilitates the participation of severely disabled people in working life.
Objective: Severely disabled people should be given equal opportunities to work.
