If you are a member of a shooting club, you can apply for a permanent permit to purchase certain types of weapons (yellow gun ownership card).
The yellow gun license entitles you to a total of up to ten
- Single-shot long guns with smooth and rifled barrels,
- Repeating long guns with rifled barrels,
- single-barreled, single-shot handguns for cartridge ammunition,
- multi-shot short and long guns with percussion cap ignition (percussion weapons)
- Identity card or passport (copy)
- Certificate from the shooting sports association
- Proof of expertise
- Proof of storage, for example purchase agreement for a gun safe and/or photos of the gun safe and location
- If necessary, a specialist medical or psychological certificate about your mental suitability (if under 25 years of age)
- Minimum age: 25 years
- reasonable reason, such as activity as a sports shooter (need)
- At least one year of active membership in a shooting sports club
- No criminal record (reliability)
- No incapacity, mental illness or drug addiction (personal suitability)
- Knowledge of firearms regulations
- safe handling of weapons and ammunition
- Skills in shooting firearms (not required if only collecting weapons that cannot fire)

- You submit an application and attach the necessary documents.
- The responsible authority will examine your application and, if necessary, request any missing information or documents from you.
- The firearms license will be issued to you if all legal and factual requirements are met.
You can also get a permit if you are under 25 years old, provided you can prove your personal suitability with a report. Sport shooters can get a permit from the age of 18. However, this only applies to firearms up to caliber 5.6 mm lfB (.22 lr) with rimfire ignition and a muzzle energy of no more than 200 joules (J), as well as single-shot long guns with smooth barrels up to caliber 12 or smaller. In other cases, the age limit for sport shooters is 21 years.
