If you want to hold a public gathering in the open air, you must register this with the relevant authority.
- You can register the meeting as an individual, organization or association.
- You must appoint a meeting leader. The meeting leader must be an individual. This individual is responsible for ensuring that the meeting runs smoothly and is the contact person for the police and the assembly authorities during the meeting. The meeting leader must be present for the entire duration of the meeting. A deputy for the meeting leader can also be appointed.
- When you register, you must provide the following information:
- Name and address of the organizer or the person making the report (private individual or organization)
- Name and address, telephone number and email address of the chairperson of the meeting
- Description of the planned course of the meeting by location, time and topic
- In the case of rallies or demonstrations, the planned route
- If applicable: number and deployment of the stewards expected to be deployed
If you would like to submit your application online:
- You do not need to register or create an account.
- You fill out the mandatory fields of the online service.
- You will receive a confirmation email to the email address you provided.
- You submit your registration in writing.
- You send the registration by post or submit it locally to the responsible authority.
- Once your registration has been received by the responsible authority, it will be forwarded to the regulatory authority responsible for the meeting place, to the police and, if necessary, to other authorities who can comment on the meeting you are planning.
- As a rule, a cooperation discussion takes place between the responsible authority or the police and the people organizing the event.
- Feedback from the authorities will be examined separately and any cooperation will be decided at the meeting place.
- The registration will be confirmed in writing or a notice with restrictive orders or a ban will be issued. (Short-term notifications up to 1 hour before the start of the meeting are also possible).

The competent authority may, after cooperation talks with other authorities involved, issue a restriction or order on the assembly or impose a ban on the assembly if there are fears that the assembly will pose a threat to public safety which justifies these measures.
