Informal application with the above-mentioned documents to the local youth welfare office. If the child was born in the area of the locally responsible youth welfare office, the custody register can be checked and a certificate issued. If the child was born outside of Hamburg, the relevant youth welfare office will be contacted and asked for information. According to the notification, the mother then receives a certificate. For children born abroad, an inquiry will be made in Berlin.
2-3 days if the child was born in the area of responsibility, otherwise approx. a week depending on the youth welfare office providing the information.
