An official custody register is kept for children of unmarried parents.
Entries are made in this care register if:

- Declarations of care are made,
- custody has been transferred in whole or in part jointly due to a final court decision
- custody has been withdrawn from the mother in whole or in part or transferred to the father by a final court decision. A mother who is not married to the child's father can obtain a certificate stating that she has parental custody of her child and to what extent.
Only the mother is entitled to information from the custody register or public authorities
