Law on the payment of a one-off energy price flat rate for students, technical school students and vocational students in courses with the aim of at least a two-year professional qualification ( Student Energy Price Flat Rate Act - EPPSG )
If you were registered at a university or a (vocational) technical school in Germany on December 1st, 2022 and also lived in Germany, you can be entitled to a one-time energy price flat rate of 200 euros if certain requirements are met.
Students and pupils in technical school classes whose attendance requires vocational training, pupils in vocational school classes and technical school classes that provide a vocational qualification in a training course lasting at least two years, as well as pupils in comparable training courses can make a one-off payment of 200 euros Get relief from increased energy costs.
If you are one of the addressees and meet other requirements, you can submit an application for the one-off payment online using the procedure provided. As a person entitled to apply, you will receive an access code and, if applicable, a PIN from your training institution. A BundID user account must be created to apply for the flat-rate energy price for students and technical school students. You can submit your application until September 30, 2023. After that, an application is no longer possible.

You can receive the one-off payment if you meet the requirements set out in the Energy Price Flat Rate Act (EPPSG):
- They must belong to the group of addressees of the EPPSG. This includes:
- students
- From the field of higher education, this also includes, for example, part-time students, doctoral students, students on a vacation semester, students at administrative colleges or students in a dual study program.
- Pupils in technical school classes whose attendance requires professional training,
- Pupils in (vocational) technical school classes who provide a vocational qualification in a training course of at least two years,
- Pupils in training courses at higher technical schools and academies,
- Apprentices in training courses at specific training centers that are covered by a statutory ordinance in accordance with Section 2 Paragraph 3 Number 1 of the Federal Training Assistance Act (BAföG).
- In the case of trainees, a distinction must be made: eligibility depends on what type of training facility they are attending and what degree they are aiming for. Apprentices at a vocational school or a technical school who complete a two-year professional qualification receive the one-off payment. This also applies to trainees who attend a technical school class that requires completed vocational training.

You can apply for the energy price flat rate for students and technical school students digitally via www.einmalzahlen200.de .
- You set up a BundID account with the eID function of your identity card, with your ELSTER certificate, your electronic residence permit, your EU identity or your Union citizen card.
- Alternatively, set up a BundID account as a basic registration with username/password.
- You will receive an access code and, if necessary, a PIN from your training facility.
- You register with your BundID account on the website www.einmalzahlen200.de .
- You enter the access code (and, if applicable, the PIN) sent by your educational institution into the application form.
- You provide the other required information, in particular the IBAN of your account, a joint account or a third-party account.
- After submitting your application, it will be sent to the responsible office in the state and checked (fully) automatically in the respective state-specific procedure.
- You will usually receive your approval notice within a few minutes.
- The energy price flat rate is usually paid out within a few working days.
- Flat-rate energy price for students and technical students in the form of a one-time payment of 200 euros.
- The basis is the Student Energy Price Flat Rate Act (EPPSG; in force since December 21, 2022).
