• In all-day schools in Hamburg, pupils receive high-quality education and support beyond the classroom.
  • The full day offers children development and learning opportunities that match their own interests and needs.
  • The extra-curricular all-day program can also have a positive effect on your child’s learning success.
  • Free time and shared activities throughout the day also enable children and young people to make friends and develop.
• The following applies to all forms of all-day schooling at Hamburg schools:
  • The core time from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. is always free.
  • The only exception is the preschool class (VSK).
  • In addition, there are childcare options before 8 a.m., after 4 p.m. and during the holidays.
  • These additional care options can also be booked without your child being registered for core hours.
  • Charges will be charged for these additional times.
  • Depending on family situation and income, discounts are possible.
  • From preschool to grade 4, the price of lunch is also socially staggered.
• If there is only a very small demand for all-day programs at individual schools, the school organizes these together with other schools.
• Pupils can take part in full-day programmes until they reach the age of 14.
• Fees are calculated for one school year and then charged monthly to spread the costs evenly.
• Parents generally book childcare services for an entire school year.
• Up to 11 holiday weeks can be booked.
  • Care can begin on any day of the week during the holidays.
  • The booked holiday week then ends on the 7th day (example: start Thursday – end Wednesday).
  • A maximum of one additional so-called base week can be booked.
  • The base week must be paid in full even if you do not use all six days.
• Schools and providers can close for up to four weeks during the holidays.
  • During this time, holiday care is provided at a neighboring school if required.
• To participate in the all-day program and the additional care services, please register your child at the school office.
  • Registration takes place between February and May 31st at the latest for the coming school year.
  • Bookings for childcare services are generally valid for one school year.
  • All bookings except core times can be changed.
  • The change will then take effect in the quarter after next.
  • Short-term changes are only possible if the school or the cooperation partner agrees.

Fees for preschoolers

• A special feature are the fees for the care of pupils in pre-school classes.
  • A basic fee of 5 euros per month must be paid for care from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Above a certain income limit, surcharges of up to 120 euros must be paid.
  • The reason for this is that the fees for afternoon care are the same as those for daycare.
  • During off-peak and holiday periods, fees are lower than in grades 1 to 8.
• This is how the fees are calculated:
  • The fees are divided into five levels: 100% (maximum rate), 75%, 50%, 30% or 20%.
  • These discounts also apply to lunch up to grade 4.
  • They depend on the net income of the family and the number of family members. Parents who wish to benefit from a fee reduction must state their net income.
  • When calculating income, the family includes: the child being cared for, legal guardians and their other children if they live in the same household as the child being cared for or if maintenance is paid for them.
• The children’s discount:
  • You only pay the full fee for the youngest child.
  • If this child is cared for for a fee, you pay a third of the fee for the second youngest child.
  • For each additional child you only pay one fifth of the fee.
  • It does not matter whether the care takes place in a daycare center, with a childminder or at school.
  • These reliefs also apply to those paying the highest rate.
• The Hamburg education package:
  • If you receive state benefits and your child is eligible for the education and participation package, then lunch, six weeks of holiday care and all childcare services in the preschool class are free of charge.

If required or depending on the application, the following documents must be submitted:

• Annual wage tax certificate
• Income tax assessment
• Certificate from the employment agency regarding benefits received
• Proof of care for younger children (e.g. daycare voucher)
• Notices regarding social benefits (e.g. SGB II / citizen’s allowance, housing benefit, child allowance)

• Pupils must attend a state general education school.
• The student can register until he or she reaches the age of 14.
• To use the online service you need a Simple Service Account .
• The person applying must have custody and must cover any care costs that may arise. A change can only be requested by the person who submitted the initial application.
• Due to the special circumstances of special schools, online registration is currently not possible

Using the online service is free of charge. The estimated costs for childcare are stated at the end of the registration process. You can also apply for discounts in the online service, for example due to lower income and/or siblings.

• You need a Simple Service Account to use this online service.
• Using the service is free of charge.
• Please find out in advance about the fees for childcare services at All-day school, all-day education and care, fees - hamburg.de .
• Applications for the coming school year are possible from February 1st of each year.
• Deadlines for applying for childcare services must be observed: All-day schools, Hamburg FHH, FAQ - hamburg.de .
• If necessary, have any necessary documents ready in digital form.
• The online service guides you step by step through the application process.
• After submitting the application, you will receive an email in your service account inbox confirming that the data has been transmitted and an email with the application details. If you request changes, you will also receive a third email to submit to the youth welfare agency if necessary.
• The responsible school office can provide you with information about the status of processing your application after data transmission.
• After the school office has successfully reviewed your application, you will receive a booking confirmation via email in your service account mailbox.
• If the school office has any queries, these may also be sent to you by email in your service account mailbox.
• If your application is rejected, you will also receive an email in your service account mailbox.

The duration depends on the amount of data to be entered. Please note that documents may need to be uploaded.
The responsible school office can provide you with information about the status of processing.

Registrations or changes made outside of the deadlines are only possible if the school or cooperation partner agrees.

Legal basis: Section 19 of the Hamburg Fees Act of 6 March 1986 (HmbGVBL.S.37), last amended on 11 July 2007 (HmGVBL.S.238).

Your rights (legal remedies): You can appeal against this decision. The appeal must be made within one month of notification (this corresponds to three days after the date of dispatch). Submit the appeal to the office named in the letterhead.
An objection does not cancel the obligation to pay the fees and to meet the payment deadline.

Through this online service, children can be applied for full-day care from the Authority for Schools and Vocational Training at Hamburg's state general education schools.
