If you organize a fair or weekly market where livestock is traded on a small scale, you can have this event exempted from the obligation to monitor. You must apply for this at the competent authority.

If you hold an event with livestock, there are special monitoring obligations to prevent animal diseases. Livestock includes all livestock kept in agriculture, such as cattle, pigs, horses, sheep, goats.
You can apply for an exemption from this monitoring obligation for annual markets and weekly markets. However, this only applies if livestock is only traded on a small scale.
You will only be exempted from this monitoring obligation if there are no conflicting concerns regarding animal disease control.

Informal application

The application can be made informally or via the online service.

If you want to apply for an exemption informally:

• Describe your request and provide all necessary information.
• Send the application to the competent authority by e-mail or by post.
• Your application will be received and processed by the competent authority.
• The competent authority will contact you if you have any questions or require corrections.
• After processing, you will receive a notification.

If you wish to apply for the exemption through the online service:

• You call up the online service
• You fill out the application form.
• After submitting your application, it will be automatically accepted by the competent authority.
• The remaining steps are the same as in the written process.
