Before vaccines are approved, their effectiveness and safety must be proven in studies.

The independent Standing Vaccination Commission (STIKO) then checks which group of people and when a vaccination should be administered in Germany. Individual advice from your doctor or the competent authority is based on these recommendations.

The costs for a recommended vaccination and advice are covered by the health insurance companies.

Tip: On the website of the Robert Koch Institute you will find the recommendations of the Standing Vaccination Committee with recommended vaccinations for infants, small children, adolescents and adults. Vaccinations carried out are entered in a yellow vaccination card. You can get the vaccination card from your family doctor.
