The Hamburg Investment and Development Bank (IFB Hamburg) grants grants for measures that increase the share of renewable energies in the heat supply of buildings.
The promotion of renewable energies for the heat supply of buildings serves the goal of permanently reducing carbon dioxide emissions in Hamburg. This means that the building that is to be supplied with eligible renewable heat must be in Hamburg.
Various measures are funded with this funding program:
For more detailed information on the individual measures, please refer to the funding program.
Various measures are funded with this funding program:
- Solar thermal from 20m²
- bioenergy plants
- heat pumps
- Geothermal energy, PVT and heat from waste water
- heat distribution networks
- heat accumulator
- Multiple use of areas, including the use of renewable heat
For more detailed information on the individual measures, please refer to the funding program.
The following documents are required for the digital application:
To do this, submit the application on the appropriate form, which can be downloaded from https://www.ifbhh.de/foerderprogramm/erneuerbare-waerme , and submit it together with all the necessary documents.
In addition to submitting by post, you can also submit your documents by email to energie@ifbhh.de . The application form signed by all owners is also required in the original.
- Proof of legitimation of the builder(s) (e.g. identity card)
- Proof of ownership (usually the current extract from the land register)
- Official site plan (corridor map)
- estimates
- Project description (except for single-family house / two-family house)
- For new construction projects: Evidence of the transmission heat loss of the building envelope
- Self-declaration of the SME definition (only for companies, freelancers and self-employed persons as applicants)
- Documentation of the solar simulation
- Calculation of the annual performance factor
- Hydraulic standard circuit of the "Quality Management Wood Heating Plants" series of publications
- energetic concept
- profitability calculation
To do this, submit the application on the appropriate form, which can be downloaded from https://www.ifbhh.de/foerderprogramm/erneuerbare-waerme , and submit it together with all the necessary documents.
In addition to submitting by post, you can also submit your documents by email to energie@ifbhh.de . The application form signed by all owners is also required in the original.

- You must have received the grant approval before the start of the project. Under certain conditions, for example if the project could not be foreseen in good time and it is not possible to postpone it for objective reasons, the IFB can in individual cases allow the measure to start prematurely (before receipt of the permit) without damaging the funding.
- After receiving the approval, you can start your project. A project is considered to have started when you have concluded delivery and service contracts.
- In addition, technical requirements apply, which can be found within the funding program.
- If necessary, get in touch with the Hamburg Investment and Development Bank early on for the initial consultation.
- by phone: 040 248 46-208
