The electronic proof of identity is the online ID function of your ID card, which you can use, for example, to deal with digital administrative procedures or to identify yourself to online retailers on the Internet.

In order to change your address on the chip of your identity card, you must visit the office responsible for residents' affairs at your new place of residence in person. As proof of your new address, you must present your official confirmation of registration and the confirmation from the landlord.

If you have registered your new place of residence electronically, your new address will automatically be transferred from the population register to the chip in your identity card.

Verfahrensablauf

To change the address of your electronic ID, you must come in person to a Hamburg Service Resident Affairs location.

  • Your new address will be saved on the chip of your ID card.
If your address has changed through an electronic residence registration, your new address will automatically be transferred from the population register to the chip in your identity card.
