If you have successfully completed your state examination as an occupational therapist, you can apply for your professional license (certificate) here.
The activity of occupational therapist is regulated in Germany.
This means that in order to work as an occupational therapist in Germany, you must apply for a state permit. With this permit, you can use the professional title “occupational therapist” and work in the profession.
- State examination certificate or notice of equivalence of the foreign professional qualification
- Proof of reliability: confirmation that you have not been guilty of any conduct that would make you unreliable to exercise your profession (for example, by submitting an official certificate of good conduct that is no more than 3 months old)
- Medical certificate stating that you are suitable to perform the profession
- Confirmation that you have the knowledge of the German language required to perform your professional activity
- You have completed the required vocational or university training and passed the state final examination.
- You have the necessary reliability to practice the profession.
- You are medically fit to perform the profession.
- You have the knowledge of the German language required to practice the profession.
- You apply for permission from the responsible authority and submit the necessary documents.
- The responsible authority will check whether you meet all the requirements.
- If you meet all the requirements, you will receive permission.
- You may not begin the activity until you have received permission.
Qualifications obtained abroad are not taken into account in this service, but in the area of recognition.
You can raise an objection to a negative decision within one month of notification at the office specified in the letterhead.
