If you want to bring German brandy or brandy into circulation, you have to apply for the corresponding test number here.
German brandy may only be placed on the market with an official test number, the same applies to brandy.
The test number is issued upon request and only after an analytical examination. It is valid for one year. A sample of three bottles of the beverage to be tested must be enclosed with the application free of charge. The analytical examination is required by law.

The fees are based on the administrative cost regulations for the business area of the Ministry for the Environment, Climate Protection, Agriculture and Consumer Protection (VwKostO-MUELV)1 . The following fees apply for issuing the test number:
- up to 5,000 l: 105.00 euros
- over 5,000 l: 190.00 euros

- an examination result from an examination facility approved by the competent body

The following information must be observed:
- At least one bottle of each sample must be retained for a period of two years after the test report has been issued.
- A copy of the test results must be retained by the institution that carried out the test for five years.
- If the authority for justice and consumer protection does not carry out the investigation itself, the findings of an investigation can also be submitted to an investigation facility approved by the competent body.
- Several test numbers can also be issued on request.
