Training as an educator – technical school for social pedagogy

The technical school for social pedagogy enables you to independently carry out educational, training and support tasks in the socio-pedagogical field. Educators work in child and youth welfare facilities (day care facilities, open child and youth work, residential groups, etc.), in schools and with adults who need assistance. The technical college education has a generalist structure and allows for the formation of a profile. The practical training is carried out in suitable socio-pedagogical institutions and in at least two different socio-pedagogical fields of work.

Access to the 3-year training is via the intermediate school leaving certificate (MSA) and additionally
· At least two years of vocational training in a recognized training occupation or in the public sector or
· a vocational school with an average grade of 3.0 or
· a relevant occupation or
· the entrance qualification for a university of applied sciences or the general higher education entrance qualification with a four-month internship
or four months of professional activity in the socio-educational field

Access to the 2-year training is via the intermediate school leaving certificate (MSA) and additionally
· the training as a "Social Educational Assistant" or "Social Educational Assistant"
or
· at a vocational school specializing in “Health and Social Affairs” or
· at a technical college for social education or
· at the vocational high school "Pedagogy and Psychology"

Registrations are made by April 30 of each year. Training begins on the first day of school after the summer holidays. In some schools, classes are set up by February 1st, and then registration takes place by October 31st of the previous year. The central registration school is the BS30.

The full-time school education to become an educator lasts four to six half-years, including the practical part, depending on previous education. With appropriate previous training, it is reduced to two years. It can also be completed in part-time form. This form covers six semesters.
