- Since November 1st, 2010, names of orders and artists can be entered in the identity card / passport again. In the period from November 1st, 2007 to November 1st, 2010 the entry was not possible. The name of the order or artist must be proven.
- For people over 24 years of age, the passport is valid for 10 years. It is valid for 6 years for people under the age of 24.
- Current passport photo, which must meet the photo requirements for electronic ID cards.
The requirements for the passport photo can be found in the photo sample table (see the link “Federal Ministry of the Interior and Homeland - Photo sample table”, at the bottom of this page under “Forms, Service & Links”).
A photo booth (speed capture terminal) is available. The fee for a photo on site is EUR 6.00. You will not receive a printout. Please note that the existing photo booth is not suitable for taking passport photos of infants and small children. - passport
- Proof from the Ministry of the Interior and Sport - Office for Migration - of the right to use a religious or stage name (see link)
- When registering a doctoral title - proof of the doctoral title (certificate of possession from the university/college or certificate of award)
Religious or pseudonymous name on identity card, passport or population register, otherwise certificate from the Ministry of the Interior and Sport, Office for Migration.
There are fees for the reissue of the passport - up to the age of 24: 37.50 EUR (valid for 6 years), later 60 EUR (valid for 10 years). Authorization issued by the Department of the Interior and Sport (BIS) between EUR 5-35.
Personal application required. The application is forwarded to Bundesdruckerei for further processing.
Application takes about 15 minutes. Processing time about 4-6 weeks.
