§ 9 paragraph 1 Advancement Training Promotion Act (AFBG)

In order for your professional advancement training to be funded by the Advancement BAföG, you must provide evidence of your previous qualifications.

In order to have your professional advancement training funded by the Advancement BAföG, you must prove your previous qualifications.
The document required for this is the so-called "Form Z". You must use this form to confirm that you meet the technical admission requirements for the examination or that you can fulfill them before the examination. The office that also conducts the final examination for the degree you are aiming for is responsible for this.
Typically, you qualify either by completing initial vocational training and/or professional practice. Even if you dropped out of college, have professional experience or have a bachelor's degree, you can prove that you have the necessary pre-qualifications. The exact requirements are set out in the examination regulations for the respective advanced training qualification.
With the confirmation of your pre-qualification, you can then apply for the so-called "Meister-BAföG". Depending on the federal state, BAföG offices or other authorities are responsible for this.

You need the following requirements in order to be admitted to your desired further training examination:

• You already have training in a recognized training occupation or a comparable professional qualification
• You have a bachelor's degree, have dropped out of college or have completed high school with additional professional experience

As a rule, you will not incur any costs for completing and submitting Form Z.

The confirmation of the pre-qualification is one of the requirements that you have to prove for the funding:

• You apply for confirmation of your pre-qualification from the office responsible for your degree before you apply for the training grant.
• You send the form Z of the complete application together with the evidence of your pre-qualification.
• The competent body will check your pre-qualification.
• You will receive the completed Appendix Z by post.

After confirmation of your pre-qualification, you can apply for the actual funding.

The processing time is a few days if the documents are complete.
