Driving licenses for trucks, buses and passenger transport (categories C, CE, C1, C1E, D, DE, D1 or D1E) can be extended by five years at the request of the license holder.

The driving license for trucks, buses and passenger transport (classes C, CE, C1 or C1E, D, DE, D1 or D1E) is issued for a maximum of five years and can be extended by five years at the request of the license holder

Erforderliche Unterlagen

  • a valid identity card or passport with a current confirmation of registration
  • a biometric passport photo 35 x 45 millimeters (not required for passenger transport)
  • EU driving license card
  • Current German EU driving license card. A driver's license that was issued before January 19, 2013 must be exchanged beforehand. Please book another appointment for this.
  • Original passenger transport license - is required for the following vehicles if passengers are transported in them: taxis, ambulances, rental cars, cars in scheduled services (§§ 42, 43 Passenger Transport Act - PBefG), cars for commercial excursions or holiday destination trips (§ 48 PBefG) ( further information under the link "passenger transport", see below)
  • Medical report (FeV Appendix 5 No.1), not older than one year (link to the form see below)
  • Certificate from an ophthalmologist or an ophthalmological report (FeV Appendix 6), not older than two years
  • Certificate of good conduct (apply for feature O for official purposes at the registration office), not older than three months (not required for trucks)

Kosten

Renewing a driver's license for passenger transport costs between EUR 38.30 and EUR 44.20. The basis for this is the scale of charges for road traffic measures (GebOSt). The exact amount of the fee can only be determined on site based on the submission of the complete documents.

Verfahrensablauf

  • Book an appointment online.
  • Bring all required documents with you.
  • Your application and the associated documents, your identity and driver's license will be checked on site.
  • If all documents are available, the certificate for passenger transport will be handed over directly.
  • Your old driver's license will be limited and the new driver's license will be sent to you by post. The driver card and the driver qualification certificate are also sent directly by post.

Bearbeitungsdauer

If the documents are complete, the passenger transport ticket can be taken with you immediately.

Frist

The application can be submitted no earlier than six months before the expiry date of the previous driving licence. Attention: If the application is only submitted after the validity of the previous driving license has expired, there will be no longer an extension, but a new driving license will be issued. The fact that you previously held a corresponding driving license is no longer evident from the new driving licence.
