German social insurance offers you effective protection against the major risks in life and their consequences.
The German social insurance system is designed to ensure that you, as a German citizen, are not left alone in difficult situations. Social insurance protects you from major risks in life, such as illness, accidents or unemployment, and helps you to cope better with the consequences. You can get advice on the subject of social insurance and find out about your rights, obligations and options. The advice covers areas such as
- Pension matters
- Support in applying for old-age, survivors and disability pensions
- Help with clarifying insurance periods and applying for insurance histories
- Examination and forwarding of pension applications to the pension insurance provider.
Please bring all documents relevant to determining your pension entitlement to the consultation, including:
- Insurance history
- Notices of incapacity for work
- Other evidence of insurance periods (also abroad).
- You contact the responsible authority in writing or by telephone
- To clarify extensive questions, please make an appointment with the responsible department.
- The responsible body will hold a consultation with you and work out a possible course of action with you.
You should submit applications for benefits from the pension insurance provider as early as possible, at the latest three months before you become entitled to a pension benefit.
Please note that the staff at the advice center do not have access to your insurance data. Processing can only be carried out based on the documents you provide and the information you provide. The advice center cannot process every request for advice.
- The German Pension Insurance is also available to answer any questions you may have about social insurance – particularly pension matters.
This is an advisory service without any associated administrative procedure. No legal remedy is provided.
